It’s considered common knowledge in the market that palm tree-studded Boracay is the favored venue for convention-goers. People were even more abuzz with the news that Shangri-La, the island's first “deluxe” resort would play host to this year's ACI Convention.
The festivities officially started with dinner at Shangri-La's Sagana Ballroom on Friday night. Everyone enjoyed a buffet meal and a special video presentation prepared for the evening. A casual yet zesty talk from a select Bloomberg columnist spiced up the affair. After dinner, delegates proceeded to the Lobby Lounge for an enjoyable Broker's Night. The evening was filled with socializing and free-flowing drinks.
With spirits high and heads slightly groggy, Saturday kicked off with the convention proper at the Sagana Ballroom. The whole morning was regaled by enlightening and challenging perspectives from a number of distinguished speakers as well as several notable panel discussants. Buffet lunch at the Vintana restaurant followed. After the delicious lunch, delegates were given the afternoon free. While some explored the hotel’s facilities, others headed for the island’s white beach to try watersports activities, and start the party early.
By sundown, everyone gathered at the convention venue to enjoy a sumptuous dinner at Cielo Restaurant by the pool area. Feeling refreshed and energized, people headed to the fun night sponsored by Amstel, ICAP, Tradition, Tullet Prebon, BCG, GFI, Nittan Capital, and New Edge at the E-Zone. Delegates enjoyed playing billiards, air hockey, ping pong, foosball, and basketball. Cool prizes were also raffled of and some lucky delegates won goggles, iPod nanos, Hong Kong trips, and LCD TVs. The fun night capped off the end of an enjoyable 2010 ACI Convention.
The convention gave traders time off to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle of the Forex market thanks to the tranquil surroundings of Shangri-La with its perfect combination of sun, sand, and sea. Likewise, the fun-loving enjoyed the endless nights of partying in the company of good people. And just as promised, everyone had a great time as Boracay once again delivered.
